With storytelling, rhetorical strategies and slides
Imagine standing on stage at an important conference. All eyes are on you, and you have 10 minutes to convince the audience that your research matters.
If you succeed, many doors could open: invitations to give new presentations, exciting collaborations, or perhaps even the opportunity to submit a special grant application.
But effective communication isn’t easy. It requires the right tools and plenty of practice. That’s why we’ve created this course.
I just gave a talk as an invited speaker at a conference in Oslo, and I used the structure we learned in the course. The hook-loop approach worked incredibly well! My little story at the beginning of the presentation immediately captured the audience’s attention (over 200 people). It gave me so much energy on stage to see how engaged people were, listening attentively without being distracted by their phones. I only received positive feedback after the presentation—an all-around success! Thank you so much for making presenting both fun and rewarding. I recommend your course to everyone I meet!
Overall, an absolutely incredible course!!!!
I highly recommend this Madeclear workshop. I have used the techniques in all of my presentations since.
Madeclear gave me simple methods to make my research results useful for my listening audience.
Highly recommended. Loved all the relatable examples—it created a great atmosphere where you feel safe and comfortable. This comes from someone who struggled significantly with presentations throughout university. The individual feedback during the course was amazing. The tools provided are truly excellent for creating a complete presentation (short or long).
I presented at a conference last week using many of the elements I learned from your course. I received very positive feedback. A colleague was amazed and said that my presentation was comparable to a TED talk. What I am trying to say is WOW and thank you for your course. I have learned an incredible amount.
Tool 1: View your presentation as an opportunity to achieve a goal. When you know your goal, you can tailor your presentation to achieve it.
Tool 2: Make your presentation relevant by starting with what the audience wants to hear.
Tool 3: Create a cohesive story that engages your audience by posing an unanswered question your presentation addresses.
Tool 4: Learn to open and close your presentation in a captivating way.
Tool 5: Learn to transform academic text into a lively, speech-based format.
Tool 6: Build a connection with the audience by incorporating your personal experiences into the presentation.
Tool 7: Design slides that support your story without stealing attention.
Tool 8: A workshop with a rhetorician where you practice body language and vocal techniques.
Time to shine: Present to an audience and receive feedback. Your presentation will be recorded so you can see yourself.
